Poem for my Peanut by Mommy
Poem for my Peanut / Mommy

On November 22nd 2004

Matthew Omar was born I could not ask for more.

It was the best birthday present-my beautiful boy

In my entire life I’d never been filled with such joy.

He was so perfect - in every way

And it was a blessing to share a birthday.

He looked just like a little tiny Omar

The cutest little peanut in the world - by far!

He had ten perfect fingers and ten perfect toes

And I was so happy that he had my nose.

With curious eyes he’d pick up his head-
He seemed to listen to words that were said.

I remember the day that we took him home

He was so precious and he was our own.

When he wouldn’t eat he began to turn yellow

They had to prick his tiny foot - the poor little fellow.

Then he decided that he loved to eat

So he got better no more pricks on the feet.

Matthew while you were here we had so much fun

Your smile could light up a room as bright as the sun.

I’ll miss the faces that you always made

Oh how I wish that you could have stayed.

I never will see you learn to crawl or walk

And I’ll never be able to hear you talk

I never was able to take you to the zoo

Matthew my peanut I had so much planned for you.

I am ever so grateful for the time we did have

I’ll always remember you and so will your dad.

We didn’t have many weeks - only eleven.

But now you’re with Jesus - playing in heaven.

It hurts us so bad we miss you so much.

We miss your cute little face and your soft little touch.

I know that the Lord always has a plan -

But oh how I’ll miss how much you loved the fan.

God knows what He’s doing he makes no mistakes.

He never gives us more than we’re able to take.

I look up to heaven with tears in my eyes

And ask over and over why my little peanut why?

I just don’t understand what could have gone wrong

Why weren’t you with us for very long?

Everywhere I look I see your sweet face…

But I know we’ll get through this with God’s amazing grace.

Even though now we’re so far apart

You will FOREVER be in all of our hearts.

We all love you Peanut!
